My mother is awesome by Hoam My mother is awesome by Hoam
This is an image of a quilt my mother is making me. I wanted to share it with all of you. She is so awesome and wonderful.

My mother has been sewing since she was a child and has made drapes for the White House and several famous people. She is a professional seamstress, and even made my wedding dress.

I am at a juncture in my life where wearing my anime shirts is no longer acceptable by me, but instead of putting them in storage and such my mother offered to make them into a quilt. Most of these shirts I wore in high school, so it makes me feel really nostalgic to see this. My niece Kaylee helped me pick out the colors for the borders around the shirts.

That's good idea!!! I wish I know how to sew... ^^; Years ago I was thinking of putting the images in an individual frames and hang them up on the wall.

Oh, that'd make a cool instillation piece. If you had enough to do a whole wall with them would look pretty awesome, though could probably get a bit pricey depending on the frames you used.

:D

Well I'm a simple person...so I really don't need fancy frames or abstract type frames. ^^ Yeah I'll have to do some price checking. XP The good news is I don't own alot of cartoon shirts, none from anime.

This is awesome, and reminds me of the quilt I'm making for my husband.

The quilt top is Tetris(please check it out in my gallery) and the back is going to be a giant original NES controller.

It really is!

My husband is a big fan of Tetris, (obviously) so he even designed it out for me.

The TETRIS at the top of the quilt is actually the same text from the game...just blown up.

Thank you, I like the idea of turning shirts you really like into something else, even pillows are fun. This way you have the memory, you've recycled and you have a new way to enjoy it. :)

I think I'll do a tutorial next time I go to my mother's place. :) I've gotten several questions about it so perhaps it'll help.

They were my shirts that I collected. Mostly from HotTopic but I did order a few from anime sites.

This is awesome. My mother recently made a T-shirt quilt for my cousin and it gave me the idea to pull all my "can't throw away" shirts out of storage and do something useful with them. Tell your mom that it looks good, well put together and something I want to snuggle up with!

What a neat idea! Your mother sounds awesome. I want to learn to sew... I've got a bunch of anime t-shirts that I don't wear much anymore, but I don't want to get rid of them. Perhaps this is an answer!

I love those YuYu Hakusho panels up at the top. I've never been able to find a YuYu t-shirt.

Thanks, the Yu Yu shirts were a fluke find at Hot Topic. I was also thinking that pillows would've been cool too. :-)
